Well, one of the oldest types of treatment and therapy in the world, Ayurveda – derived from Sanskrit terms for existence (ayuh) and knowledge or science (Veda) – emerged in India over 3,000 years ago and spread quickly to Sri Lanka. And the Sinhalese kings further modified the treatment methods, combining Hela Wedakama, a treatment practice native to Sri Lanka, and founded Ayurveda treatment centers in the historical sites of Anuradhapura and Polonnaruwa.
